Logical Guesses featured a diverse group of artists who express aesthetic variations through calculations, patterns, and equations. The pieces in this exhibition manipulated light and materials to explore the properties and illusions of space. Favoring rational hypothesis over emotional development, the featured artists worked within rigid rule systems and guidelines engage with object and form.
Logical Guesses featured work by Harriet Bart, Jarrod Beck, Marylyn Dintenfass, Dan Flavin, Alice Hope, Sol Lewitt, Ryan and Trevor Oakes, and James Scott. The exhibition was organised in conjunction with Driscoll Babcock Gallery, the oldest gallery in New York City, founded in 1852. The gallery represents contemporary and historic artists who have proven instrumental in extending visual and aesthetic culture, and whose creative visions have resonance and pertinence well beyond the time and place in which they were created.
