Boswall House, 2 Cornwall Terrace, London, UK
House of the Nobleman launched in October 2010 at Cornwall Terrace, a magnificent 18th century townhouse overlooking Regent’s Park, a stone’s throw from Frieze Art Fair. This spectacular exhibition imagined the house’s inhabitant as a hugely successful trader. Having utilised the infinite possibilities of the technological age to amass vast wealth, he aspired to find a shaping narrative for the etiolated appearance of his existence. Art was the chosen medium for this search.
The exhibition included a dazzling array of artists and works drawn from outstanding international private collections such as the David Roberts Foundation, the Ragdan El‐Akabi and The Gunter Lorenz Collections as well as including young emerging artists from the Saatchi Gallery and Channel 4’s New Sensations.
The exhibition took place in Boswall House, a mansion that forms part of Cornwall Terrace, eight newly created double‐fronted mansions built behind a retained Grade I listed façade by developer Oakmayne Bespoke, with stunning views over Regent’s Park. This has been the first time that a luxury London residential property has been transformed into an exhibition on this scale and with works of such astounding historical significance, and the collaboration forms part of an art‐focused strategy for promoting Cornwall Terrace.
